How to Massage Eyes-Yoga and Eye Care
How toPosted by Dr. H. Singh Wed, October 14, 2009 19:22:44The eye message is so important now days as our working conditions have changed significantly. We have to give relief to our eyes through the massage. For it we follow the following method of massage.
We use our fingers from the base of our nose to upwards moving around the nostrils to go around the eyes, then from the eyebrows, we move downwards from the both sides of the eyes. This needs to be going upwards and downwards as the skin reacts to upwards motion more than it does to the downward because the hair, as the Rome-Coop (the Hindi word for pores body uses for outlet of perspiration and sweating) get better treatment if we move upwards.
We can massage on the bone just above the eyes, as it has the point of acupressure. These points of acupressure are all around the eyes, starting from the base of the nose. There is a great benefit in this massage as the eyes; nose and the ears work together.
There are some points on the ears, which are having a close relation with eyes, which need massage. However, we may note it that the massage and the acupressure work simultaneity as the physiotherapy and naturopathy does. Thus, the massage is one of major therapy for the eyes as well as the other parts of our body.
The precaution that we need to follow is that we cannot put pressure on the front side of the eyes, for it we have another way of massaging, that we will discuss now, as the palming.
Well, we offer the massage to the eyes through the Palming, which is the indirect way. This message is for after we have gone through the exercises of the eyes. These two exercises involve the making eyes move without making any movement of the head and the neck. It goes as follows:
Eye Exercise: In it, we simply move eyes, while sitting in the Sukh Asana or the Padam Asana (the Lotus Posture). We move our eyes towards the sky, stay there for two seconds. Then again, we look towards the earth and after staying there for two seconds; we again look downwards and sty there for two seconds. We repeat the process twice. It makes the one unit of the exercise. Then we close our eyes for two seconds. Then we open the eyes and look in front.
Then we look towards the right and try to see as far as we can. Then we look towards the left side, stay there for two seconds, and try to see as far as possible. Then we look again to the right side. Then go to the left side. Then we look in front again. We then close our eyes. Thus, the unit of the left-right exercise is over. We keep our eyes closed for six to eight seconds.
